What is this tool?
Enter a tax rate manually — this tool doesn't look up state, county, or city rates, since they vary too finely and change too often to maintain reliably (the same reasoning behind the site's US Federal Tax Estimator not covering state/local tax). Add mode applies your rate to a subtotal; reverse mode backs the tax out of a total that already includes it, useful for a receipt that only shows the final amount.
How to use it
