What is this tool?

Basal metabolic rate (BMR) estimates calories burned at rest. Total daily energy expenditure (TDEE) multiplies BMR by an activity factor. This tool uses Mifflin–St Jeor (1990), a widely used predictive equation for healthy adults.

How to use it

  1. Enter sex, age, height, weight, and activity level.
  2. Review BMR and TDEE in kcal/day.
  3. Use the numbers as a starting point only — needs vary.
